Israel came from a small town in Usulután, El Salvador, where he dreamed of serving his country with honor. A recent university graduate, he planned to join the police force to bring real change.

Instead, he found a broken system. Gangs threatened him before he even joined, and officers warned him to accept corruption or risk his life.

Eventually, the threats escalated into violence. Armed men shot at his front door. When he called for help, no one came.

That’s when his mother insisted he leave El Salvador before it was too late.

Once in the U.S., Israel began the asylum process. It wasn’t easy. Another lawyer told him he didn’t have a case. The government even appealed after his first win. But with the help of our legal team and solid evidence of the danger he faced Israel won again. Two judges, two separate decisions, both in his favor.

“When the first lawyer told me I had no case, I thought it was all over,” Israel shared. “But here, they told me, ‘We have a chance, we can move forward’ and we won.”

Now living legally in the U.S., Israel is working toward permanent residency and citizenship. He’s learning English, building a future, and most importantly  living without fear.

“We just wanted a chance,” he said. “We're hardworking, determined people  and I’m proof that it’s possible.”
