Asylum Granted for Honduran Government Worker Who Spoke Out Against Corruption

Roque was an entrepreneur with several successful businesses in Honduras. But when he spoke out against corruption, he became a target. Threats, violence, and official inaction made daily life unsafe even dangerous.

At one point, he was attacked while simply riding his motorcycle. It was a wake-up call: things weren’t going to get better, and staying might cost him his life.

“The country was becoming increasingly dangerous,” Roque recalled. “Corruption was eating away at us. It was no longer even safe to work.” So, for the safety of his children and his own future, he made the painful decision to leave.
