What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It


Tingen Law, PLLC collects the types of data that websites routinely collect to interact with its visitors via online forms and comment forms, as well as via technical processes such as cookies, analytics, and interactions with software provided by third party websites.

However, as a law firm, we also collect client and case-specific information for site visitors who seek to engage the firm’s services.

Comments


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Our use of our websites is unique in that we interact with, store, collect, and process information provided by clients via our online presence. We collect and use client information in this manner in order to provide a superior legal service experience.

ActiveCampaign sends email to visitors who have provided an email address to Tingen Law, and provides non-identifying aggregate information in the form of statistics to help us improve our email marketing efforts.


Third Party Software: Stripe


We use Stripe to process payments online. Stripe may store, collect, or share personal data in accordance with their privacy practices in order to allow you to pay for products or services. (https://stripe.com/us/privacy).


While we currently only use Stripe to process payments online, we may use other point of sale products or payment processors in our office, or online in the future. We will only share the information necessary to process payment with those third parties.


Third Party Software: Shopify


One of the Tingen Law websites is hosted via Shopify. (https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy). Shopify may also collect personally identifying information necessary to process transactions. They retain client and site visitor information in accordance with their privacy practices.


Our Shopify store uses the Stripe payment gateway to process payment.


Third Party Software: Freshbooks


We use Freshbooks to process invoices for clients. (https://www.freshbooks.com/policies/privacy). Client information, such as your name, email, phone, and physical address, is submitted to Freshbooks automatically upon submission of certain forms indicating that an attorney-client relationship has been formed. This information is provided to Freshbooks so that we may invoice you for services provided.


WordPress Plugins: Akismet


We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).


WordPress Plugins: WooCommerce


We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store.


While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

For the purposes of processing recurring subscription payments, we store the customer’s name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number and credit card/payment details.


We share the information necessary to process automatic payments in accordance with your subscription with Stripe, as previously mentioned.
